Workforce Training

Dedicated to Developing a Thriving Workforce

As Greensboro and the region reinvent themselves to accommodate 21st century companies and to transition from an economy based on textiles, tobacco, and furniture, The Cemala Foundation invests in workforce training initiatives.

It is our hope that our contribution to key areas of career and technical education (CTE) will expand nurturing learning environments in which CTE students can gain important workforce experience and knowledge that will serve them in their careers.  It is our desire to strengthen the resources and environment for adults seeking new opportunities and/or expanding their education and life skills. Some of these investments are highlighted below.

Action Greensboro

Action Greensboro, together with the Chamber of Commerce, serves as the city’s primary economic and community development group. Formed in 2001, Action Greensboro is comprised of six local charitable foundations. In collaboration with business, higher education, and municipal government, Action Greensboro works to strengthen Greensboro’s economy and ensure the continuation of its excellent quality of life.

Career & Technical Education

Cemala is an advocate for enhanced Career and Technical Education courses and programs in Guilford County.  These are courses at the high school level and programs at the postsecondary sub baccalaureate level, which focus on the skills and knowledge required for specific jobs or fields of work.

Community Support Programs

Students of all ages are best supported when their life at home is safe, loving, and dependable.  Underemployed, nonnative English speakers, and others in the work force seek opportunities to strengthen their skill set to ensure career success.

From cradle to career, The Cemala Foundation supports growth and advancement initiatives throughout our community members’ lives
