Since 2010, Cemala has supported “Opera at the Carolina” for all 5th graders in Guilford County. Opera at the Carolina provides students the chance to visit the Carolina Theatre and observe two mini operas and experience the magic that comes to light. For most students, this is their first time at an opera. This innovative outreach features a well-known opera and a “Write Your Own Opera” contest, where students submit their creative pieces, and the winner sees his/her own story developed and performed on stage.
The Greensboro Opera is a community-based company dedicated to fostering the growth of opera, and to presenting professional productions of the highest artistic caliber for the enjoyment, education, and enrichment of the Triad region of North Carolina. Cemala’s support of the Greensboro Opera goes back nearly 25 years.
